Football Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

With a playoff win on the line, St. Michael the Archangel rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 46-35 win over the Boonville Pirates. The victory was nothing new for the Guardians as they're now sitting on seven straight.

St. Michael the Archangel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luis Tellado, who rushed for 202 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Those 202 rushing yards gave Tellado a new career-high. Gage Burgess was another key player, rushing for 84 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Michael the Archangel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 402 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

Boonville's loss came despite strong showings from Alex McDonald and Tatum Hough. McDonald rushed for 236 yards and three scores, while Hough rushed for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: McDonald posted at least 175 rushing yards in the seventh games prior. Landon Conz also helped out with an impressive 90 receiving yards.

St. Michael the Archangel's record now sits at 9-3. As for Boonville, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.

Looking ahead, St. Michael the Archangel will face off against Maryville at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Guardians will need to watch out since the Spoofhounds have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. Boonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
