Basketball Recap: Gibbon Comes Up Short

Gibbon lost against Arcadia/Loup City back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Gibbon Buffaloes were beaten by the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels 63-28. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Rebels are ranked 97th).

Despite the loss, Gibbon still got an impressive performance from Brooke Sell, who posted 16 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Sell a new career-high in points.

Nicole Chilewski had an outrageously good game for Arcadia/Loup City as she earned 11 points along with seven assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Hurlburt, who put up eight points and three steals.

Gibbon is on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9. As for Arcadia/Loup City, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gibbon will welcome Harvard at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibbon is facing Harvard at the right time seeing as Harvard is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Arcadia/Loup City, they will challenge Wood River at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th.
