Baseball Recap: Scarborough Beats Portland for Their 20th Straight Win

Scarborough strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Portland Bulldogs 8-0. That's more bragging rights for the Red Storm, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Scarborough got a great performance from Cam Dean as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Matthew Fallona and Kayson Cyr did most of the damage at the plate: Fallona went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Cyr got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Cyr a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kam Duggan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Scarborough was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Scarborough's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Portland, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Scarborough will be playing in front of their home fans against Gorham at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Storm 0.7, the Rams 0.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Portland will be paying especially close attention to Scarborough's contest: after Scarborough faces off against Gorham, they'll take on Portland again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
