Softball Recap: Milwaukee Hamilton Wildcats vs. Riverside University/Meir
Milwaukee Hamilton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-2 in the process. They lost 21-0 to Riverside University/Meir. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for Riverside University/Meir, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6. Considering they have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Riverside University/Meir's part, Laila Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Duncan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Riverside University/Meir got a massive performance out of Izzy Alvarado, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. What's more, Alvarado posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Briana Gray, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milwaukee Hamilton will take on Martin Luther at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Riverside University/Meir, they will head out to take on Milwaukee Bradley Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
