Soccer Game Preview: Cambridge vs. Chamblee

The Cambridge Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Chamblee Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Chamblee took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cambridge, who comes in off a win.

Cambridge will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Centennial on Friday. Cambridge never let Centennial get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bears yet this season.

Meanwhile, while the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Northgate who was credited with the win on Tuesday. Northgate got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Chamblee's three. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Vikings are ranked 17th).

Cambridge has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matches. This is the second loss in a row for Chamblee and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Cambridge might still be hurting after the 6-3 defeat they got from Chamblee when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can Cambridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
