Basketball Recap: Unity Reed Comes Up Short

If Unity Reed was feeling good fresh off their 71-43 takedown of Osbourn last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Unity Reed Lions were beaten by the Colonial Forge Eagles 82-51 on Wednesday. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-20.

Unity Reed's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charles Pargo, who posted 23 points and six boards. The contest was Pargo's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Russell Robinson, who earned 11 points.

Finn Perschau was his usual excellent self, putting up 18 points and three steals for Colonial Forge. The team also got some help courtesy of Taysean Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Unity Reed has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Colonial Forge, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Unity Reed didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-46 defeat against Freedom on the 17th. As for Colonial Forge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-62 win against Riverbend on the 16th.
