Basketball Recap: Elkhart Comes Up Short

Elkhart lost against Fairfield back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Elkhart Elks were beaten by the Fairfield Eagles 59-23. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 986th, while the Eagles are ranked 119th).

Shu'Nydeya Whitehead and Lilly Gay certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Whitehead posted 11 points, while Gay had nine points.

Elkhart is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-21. As for Fairfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season.

Elkhart wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 30-27 defeat against Teague on the 4th. As for Fairfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-34 victory against Westwood on the 4th.
