Basketball Recap: Saluda Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Saluda faced off against Batesburg-Leesville on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, the Saluda Tigers made off with a 56-55 victory over the Batesburg-Leesville Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Batesburg-Leesville still got an impressive performance from Ta'Maj Gilliam, who posted 18 points along with five assists and five steals. Gilliam's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Braylen Davis was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Saluda is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Batesburg-Leesville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-7 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saluda has already played their next contest (against American Leadership Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Batesburg-Leesville will be playing in front of their home fans against Strom Thurmond at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Strom Thurmond will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Batesburg-Leesville surely won't give up without a fight.
