Basketball Recap: Delaware Academy's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Delaware Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Walton Warriors with a sharp 48-24 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-53 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Walton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Walley posted 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 45.8% of Walton's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Delaware Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Walton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.

The future could be bright for both Delaware Academy and Walton: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Delaware Academy will look to extend Harpursville's three-game losing streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Walton will try to hand Unadilla Valley their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
