Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Bellefonte's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Bellefonte ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since April 22, 2024.

Zach Lehman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Evan Mattern was excellent, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Braeden Fortney was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bellefonte has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Bellefonte will head out on the road to challenge Hollidaysburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, they will challenge Bedford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bisons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mountaineers surely won't give up without a fight.
