Soccer Recap: Wheatmore Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Wheatmore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Thomasville Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Wheatmore of the 11-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Wheatmore used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Thomasville. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Landon Watkins (129), Grayson Carter (80), and Bryon Figueroa (52). The trio had averaged 45, 57.2, and 20.4 minutes respectively before Wednesday's match. Figueroa made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist and two steals A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Wheatmore's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Thomasville, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2-2.

Wheatmore has already played their next contest, a 5-1 loss against East Davidson on the 30th. As for Thomasville, they will head out to take on Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
