Everything went the Cougars' way against Walton-Verona on Thursday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Conner got a massive performance out of Kayla Ortiz, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Ortiz has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Bre Meredith, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Conner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Ryle came out on top against Cooper on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Raiders narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Jaguars 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since March 24th.
The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Roland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Karysa Lowery, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Conner's win bumped their record up to 12-3-2. As for Ryle, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Conner has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438.
