Basketball Recap: Cross Takes a Loss

Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a hard 60-41 fall against the Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles. The Stingrays were down 50-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Cross lost, don't look at William Ross Peery. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Those seven boards gave Peery a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Davis, who posted four points.

Hilton Head Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Foster out in front who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Jake Wood was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Cross' loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5.

Cross wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-27 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 12th. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-33 defeat against Hilton Head Prep on the 13th.
