Woodland Regional put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Holy Cross Crusaders by a score of 6-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 6-0 victory back in April.

Ella VanAlstyne made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caitlyn Braun, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Angelena Tottenham was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Woodland Regional's victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. As for Holy Cross, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Woodland Regional is set to square off against their familiar foe Wolcott at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hawks 0.6, the Eagles 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Holy Cross will challenge rival Naugatuck at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
