Torrington is 0-10 against Wolcott since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Raiders will face off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Torrington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Torrington is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Watertown on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2.

Sophia Pergola put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Pergola wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grace Pruchnicki, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Wolcott made sure to put some runs up on the board against Waterbury Career Academy on Wednesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 17-1 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six matches by more than 12 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Malenfant looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, Lia Ladd was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Belval, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
The win made it two in a row for Wolcott and bumps their season record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Torrington, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Torrington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wolcott struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Torrington might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Wolcott in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
