Basketball Recap: Annabelle Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northland Prep Academy over Camp Verde

Northland Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Camp Verde Cowboys. The Spartans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cowboys from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.

Northland Prep Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Annabelle Jackson, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Jackson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Massey, who posted nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Camp Verde to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jazmin Torres, who put up five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Torres is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Wa'Siiva Lewis, who scored ten points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Northland Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Camp Verde, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12.

Northland Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-8 defeat against St. Johns on the 1st. Camp Verde has also already played their next matchup, a 75-21 victory against Madison Highland Prep on the 31st.
