Gilbert came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Desert Ridge Jaguars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 last Tuesday.

Johhny King tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Will Bates was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Hayden Leach, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-9. As for Desert Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Coming up, Gilbert will look to defend their home field on Monday against Mesa at 3:45 p.m. As for Desert Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Camelback at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
