Baseball Recap: Beardstown's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Beardstown dropped their record down to 13-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 8-3 to the Quincy Blue Devils. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Beardstown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Bell, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI. Trey Riddell was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Quincy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On Quincy's side, they got a great performance from Nick Brown as he tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Nate Konrad was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Quincy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Gibson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beardstown will welcome PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Quincy, they will challenge Sterling at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
