Softball Recap: Yorkville Wins Going Away Against Plainfield North

After only one run in their last match, Yorkville made sure to put some runs up on the board against Plainfield North on Thursday. The Foxes blew past the Tigers 13-4. With that win, the Foxes brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Peyton Levine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Kayla Kersting was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Phillips, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

The victory snapped Yorkville's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record. As for Plainfield North, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Yorkville will be playing in front of their home fans against Bradley-Bourbonnais at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Plainfield North, they will venture away from home to square off against Benet Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
