Basketball Recap: Trinity Catholic Gets the Win

There's no place like home for Trinity Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They slipped by the North Florida Educational Institute Fighting Eagles 53-52 on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-51 back in November of 2024.

Trinity Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alessa Washington out in front who posted 14 points and five steals. Washington has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brionie Leahmon, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Trinity Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for North Florida Educational Institute, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-9.

Trinity Catholic will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Dunnellon at 6:00 p.m. Trinity Catholic is facing Dunnellon at the right time seeing as Dunnellon is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for North Florida Educational Institute, they will head out to square off against Ribault at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
