Preview: Fort Dorchester Patriots vs. West Ashley Wildcats
The Fort Dorchester Patriots will be playing at home against the West Ashley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Dorchester has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, Fort Dorchester came up short against Stall and fell 50-37. Fort Dorchester has struggled against Stall recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
West Ashley suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-33 walloping at the hands of Summerville. While losing is never fun, West Ashley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Summerville is ranked 20th).
Despite their loss, West Ashley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ella Crowe, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Crowe is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Serenity Corley was another key contributor, scoring no points along with three steals and two blocks.
Fort Dorchester has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for West Ashley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Fort Dorchester strolled past West Ashley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 54-38. Does Fort Dorchester have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Ashley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
