Softball Recap: Manatee Hurricanes vs. North Port Bobcats
Manatee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 9-4 to the North Port Bobcats. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Mercedes VanTassel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Caldwell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Manatee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for North Port, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.
Manatee will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lakewood Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for North Port, they will square off against Lehigh at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: North Port has lost seven straight at home (dating back to last season), while Lehigh has lost three on the road.
