Volleyball Recap: Hayden Urban and Emerson Chang Secure Win for Manvel

Manvel's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Dobie Longhorns with a sharp 3-0 win. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Manvel walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-18, 25-21.

Leading Manvel to victory were Emerson Chang and Hayden Urban. Chang had 14 digs, while Urban had five aces and five assists. Chang is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Sami Guikema also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Manvel was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dobie only served one.

Manvel's victory bumped their record up to 23-9. As for Dobie, they moved to 13-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Manvel will take on rival Pasadena Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dobie is set to square off against their familiar foe Dawson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
