Basketball Recap: Jerimiah Washpun's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty over Washington

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They took a 73-59 bruising from the Washington Warriors. The Lightning were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Lightning players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerimiah Washpun, who went 10-for-19 en route to 23 points. Washpun is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 53% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Maddoc Coapstick, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 11 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Washington, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-17.

Coming up, Liberty will challenge Wahlert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty is facing Wahlert at the right time seeing as Wahlert is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
