Basketball Game Preview: Garey Vikings vs. Sierra Vista Dons

The Garey Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Sierra Vista Dons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Garey has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Sierra Vista will arrive with five straight wins.

Last Thursday, Garey came up short against Duarte and fell 62-54.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sierra Vista). They took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 76-44 victory over Baldwin Park.

Garey better keep an eye on Ethan Guevara. He was instrumental in Sierra Vista's win, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dolan Dease, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 15 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Sierra Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Sierra Vista's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Garey, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Garey suffered a grim 67-44 defeat to Sierra Vista in their previous meeting two weeks ago. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Garey was down 43-14.
