Baseball Recap: Claude Drops Highest Score of Season Against Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Claude). They blew past the Valley Patriots 18-8 on Tuesday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Brian Campbell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Brady Shelton was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Korbin Jackson, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Claude's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Valley, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Claude will have a chance to go back-to-back against Valley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
