Softball Recap: Fruitvale Victorious

Fruitvale won the last time they faced Big Sandy and things went their way on Saturday too. Fruitvale came out on top against Big Sandy by a score of 9-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.

Kyla Bain made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Holly Hance was a standout: she scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Madyson Bierl also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Fruitvale's record is now 6-7-1. As for Big Sandy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Fruitvale Bobcats face off against Alba-Golden Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Big Sandy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Como-Pickton at 6:00 p.m. on April 8.
