Basketball Game Preview: Hoover Tornados vs. Monrovia Wildcats

The Hoover Tornados and the Monrovia Wildcats will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hoover picked up another tournament win on Friday. They walked away with a 61-54 win over Duarte. Given the Tornados' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Falcons are ranked 1119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Monrovia strolled past Jurupa Hills with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 75-61.

Hoover has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Monrovia, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Everything came up roses for Hoover against Monrovia in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 79-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hoover since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
