The Glastonbury Guardians will challenge the South Windsor Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Glastonbury will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Glastonbury is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Maloney, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Glastonbury was ranked 24th). The Guardians walked away with a 33-20 victory over the Spartans on Friday.

Glastonbury's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dante Casdia, who rushed for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Casdia's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 125 rushing yards. Connor Finnerty was another key player, rushing for 29 yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, South Windsor waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Hornets as they made off with a 60-38 victory. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by exactly 22 points.
South Windsor's win came from a few key players Glastonbury will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jalil Montgomery, who rushed for 224 yards and three scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Those 224 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaden Bridgeforth, who rushed for 240 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Windsor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 644 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
One reason for the win was South Windsor's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Isaac Gerber, Aiden Saada, and Ny'Kem Jackson, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Glastonbury's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for South Windsor, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Glastonbury has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Windsor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 349.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Glastonbury beat South Windsor 31-21 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Bobcats' Ethan Laguardia, who threw for 129 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 52 yards and one score. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Guardians to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
