Softball Game Preview: Chino Cowboys vs. Montclair Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Chino will face off against Montclair. The Cowboys will host the Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chino has three straight wins, Montclair has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Chino made easy work of Montclair and carried off a 15-3 victory.

Jianna De La Rosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Angelina Ortiz was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Smith, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Chino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.

The win got Chino back to even at 11-11. As for Montclair, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Montclair's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chino has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Montclair, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Chino's sizable advantage in that area, the Cavaliers will need to find a way to close that gap.
