Marcellus came tearing into Monday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Lawrence Tigers with a sharp 17-2 victory. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 13, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Abram Coffey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Jakob Huber was incredible, firing off three home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-3. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Leighton Osborn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Marcellus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Marcellus pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Lawrence, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Marcellus will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
