Basketball Recap: Anahuac Takes a Loss

Anahuac lost against Orangefield back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Anahuac Panthers took a hard 53-38 fall against the Orangefield Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1026th, while the Bobcats are ranked 373rd).

Orangefield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaden Scales out in front who went 7 for 16 on his way to 18 points and six assists. The matchup was Scales' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Elijah Jones was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Anahuac has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Orangefield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-7.

Anahuac will welcome East Chambers at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. One thing working in East Chambers' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 21 games. Orangefield has already played their next match, a 91-33 win against Hardin on the 14th.
