Basketball Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Adrian Webber and Jaidon Anderson

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo was the 72-67 winner over Port Isabel when they last played one another back in November of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears and the Port Isabel Tarpons didn't end well, with the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears falling 82-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), the Bears still had to take the loss.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaidon Anderson, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards, and Adrian Webber, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Webber a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jax Barrera, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Port Isabel, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-9.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will face off against Weslaco at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Port Isabel, they will take on STX at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
