Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Heritage Cougars vs. Madison Patriots

The Mountain Heritage Cougars will challenge the Madison Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Mountain Heritage easily dispatched Owen on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Mountain Heritage fell just short of Madison by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since March 28, 2024.

For Madison's part, Max Shelton was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those six RBI gave Shelton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lane Beaver, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Madison is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. Mountain Heritage's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5.
