Baseball Game Preview: Grove City Christian Eagles vs. Bexley Lions

The Grove City Christian Eagles will head out to challenge the Bexley Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Grove City Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Grove City Christian faced off against Miller on Monday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Falcons. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Peyton Fillinger was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Jadunn Harris was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Grove City Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grayson Keating, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Centerburg hit Bexley with a eight-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions fell 11-7 to the Trojans.

Grove City Christian pushed their record up to 12-8-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Bexley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9-1 record this season.
