Basketball Recap: Ke'dren Washington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lamar over Arlington

Lamar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Arlington Colts. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Colts earlier this season, when they won 55-51.

Lamar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ke'Dren Washington, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Washington a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dearmondrae Batie, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Arlington, they moved to 13-18 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Lamar and Arlington could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Lamar will square off against Bowie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 436 places (596 vs. 160). Meanwhile, Arlington (ranked 502nd) will meet Grand Prairie (ranked 150th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
