Preview: Clearview Clippers vs. Black River Pirates
Clearview is 9-1 against the Pirates since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Clearview Clippers will head out on the road to square off against the Black River Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Black River took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Clearview, who comes in off a win.
Clearview can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against Vermilion by a score of 62-54.
Clearview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cy Christensen, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jai Walton, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Black River came up short against the Wildcats on Friday and fell 57-48. Black River has struggled against the Wildcats recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Clearview's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for Black River, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13.
Clearview took their victory against the Pirates when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 87-67. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Black River's John Kray, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Clearview still be able to contain Kray? There's only one way to find out.
