Baseball Recap: Waldron Mohawks vs. Mooresville Christian Eagles
Waldron proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Mooresville Christian Eagles.
Troy Atwood was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Atwood was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Waldron let Kevin Crouch and Hunter Dodson run wild. Crouch got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Dodson went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Dodson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Stocklin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Waldron now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mooresville Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Coming up, Waldron is headed away from home for the first time to face off against South Ripley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mooresville Christian, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Purdue Broad Ripple at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
