Baseball Recap: Spanish River Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Spanish River ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the American Heritage Stallions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sharks have posted since March 21, 2025.

Spanish River got a great performance from Dylan Werblow as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Werblow has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Spanish River's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zack Schwartz, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Schwartz a new career-high. Another was Roman Zabala, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Spanish River's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14-1. As for American Heritage, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spanish River will welcome Dwyer at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for American Heritage, they will host Okeechobee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
