Basketball Recap: Animo Robinson Piles Up the Points Against New Designs University Park

There's no place like home for Animo Robinson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They breezed by the New Designs University Park Cardinals to the tune of 62-21 on Tuesday. The Monarchs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 41 points or more this season.

Animo Robinson was led to victory by Roger Shackelford and Deandre Kirkpatrick. Shackelford went 8 for 16 en route to 21 points and six steals, while Kirkpatrick almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The game was Kirkpatrick's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Pippert, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Animo Robinson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

New Designs University Park's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nicholas Hambrick, who had eight points and six boards. Daviandre Davis was another key player, putting up five points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Animo Robinson's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for New Designs University Park, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
