Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lucy Roscoe and Laila Verber Lead Grayslake North to Victory

Grayslake North got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the Round Lake Panthers by a score of 2-0. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Grayslake North was: they took both sets by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-15.

Leading Grayslake North to victory were Laila Verber and Lucy Roscoe. Verber had seven digs and two aces, while Roscoe had eight digs and four assists. Verber also put up an assist, which was her first of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Grayslake North was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last seven contests.

Grayslake North's victory ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 4-13. As for Round Lake, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Coming up, Grayslake North will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Chicago at 6:00 p.m. As for Round Lake, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against North Shore Country Day on the 26th.
