Football Recap: Quanah Skates Past Memphis with Ease

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Quanah brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They claimed a resounding 40-13 win over the Memphis Cyclones. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 18, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Quanah found their leader in sophomore Lexston Reese, who rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Another player making a difference was Austin Whitmire, who rushed for 27 yards and a pair of TDs.

Quanah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 272 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Memphis still got an impressive performance from Daniel Salazar, who rushed for 96 yards and one score, and also caught one touchdown.

Quanah's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for Memphis, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quanah will face off against Shamrock at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Indians will be up against the Irish's rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Memphis, they will square off against Clarendon at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Cyclones will be up against the Broncos' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
