Football Recap: Winder-Barrow Falls to East Jackson in First Game of Season

Winder-Barrow kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the East Jackson Eagles by a score of 38-35. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Winder-Barrow's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Demetrius Dowdy, who rushed for 101 yards and one TD, and also picked up 32 receiving yards and one touchdown. Grayson Engel also helped out with an impressive 106 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Winder-Barrow's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. East Jackson's QB won't forget Emmanuel Robinson anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Jashod Jackson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Winder-Barrow didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 57-34 win against Forsyth Central on the 22nd. As for East Jackson, they have also already played their next matchup, a 21-14 victory against Commerce on the 22nd.
