Baseball Recap: Westside Drops Season-High Score on Southside

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westside). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Southside Tigers a 16-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Rams have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Caleb Christian looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Westside got a massive performance out of Jackson Holmes, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Holmes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Herndon, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Westside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southside only posted a batting average of .000.

Westside has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Southside, they are on a 32-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Westside beat the Tigers by a score of 17-0 on Wednesday.
