Basketball Game Preview: Benson vs. West Central Area Knights

Benson is 0-6 against West Central Area since January of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. Benson are taking a road trip to challenge the West Central Area Knights at 7:00 p.m. Benson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully West Central Area likes a good challenge.

Benson can't be too worried about heading out to take on West Central Area: they just beat Wheaton at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Benson slipped by Wheaton 67-66 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, West Central Area entered their tilt with Brandon/Evansville on Saturday with seven consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with eight. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 76-45 win over the Chargers. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Chargers are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Central Area pushed their record up to 19-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points over those games. As for Benson, their record now sits at 16-10.

Benson lost to West Central Area on the road by a decisive 76-58 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Benson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
