Football Game Preview: West Point Pointers vs. Rappahannock Raiders + How To Watch

The West Point Pointers will face off against the Rappahannock Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Point will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Charles City on Friday. The Pointers claimed a resounding 50-22 win over the Panthers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pointers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Michael Holmes and Christian Parker. Holmes rushed for 106 yards and three TDs on only ten carries while Parker rushed for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries. Parker didn't just play on offense: he also picked up 0.5 sacks and made two total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Rappahannock against Westmoreland on Saturday as the squad secured a 56-21 win. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Eagles are ranked 265th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Point's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Rappahannock, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

West Point took a serious blow against Rappahannock when the teams last played back in September, falling 54-8. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Pointers were down 26-0.
