Baseball Recap: Hampshire's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hampshire had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Cornersville on Tuesday. The Hawks blew past the Bulldogs 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Cameron Marrisett was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Therin Brown, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory (which was Hampshire's third in a row) raised their record to 11-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Cornersville, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hampshire beat the Bulldogs by a score of 9-4 later that day.
