Recap: Lytle Pirates vs. Natalia Mustangs
The Lytle Pirates stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Natalia as Lytle made off with a 68-44 win. The win was familiar territory for Lytle who now have six in a row.
Calyssa Sevier was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. Sevier is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Arianna Garcia was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Natalia's loss came despite strong showings from Yahdi Lujan and Anaya Jones. Lujan scored 22 points, while Jones scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. That was a full 50% of Natalia's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lytle has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. As for Natalia, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lytle will take on Cotulla at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Cotulla is hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses. As for Natalia, they will play host again and welcome Crystal City, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
