Basketball Recap: Crooms Academy Starts Season with Win on the Road

Crooms Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They secured a 74-69 W over the Trinity Prep Saints on Tuesday. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 64-29 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Micah Parker had an outrageously good game as he dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Cestero, who shot 50% from the field en route to 16 points.

Despite the loss, Trinity Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taine Miller went 6-for-12 on his way to 18 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Sasser, who earned seven points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Coming up, Crooms Academy is taking a road trip to take on Burns Sci-Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Trinity Prep, they will be playing at home against Innovation at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
