Basketball Recap: Lexington Takes a Loss

If Lexington was feeling good fresh off their 52-24 takedown of Jackson North Side two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lexington Tigers were beaten by the Jackson South Side Hawks 69-27 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Hawks are ranked 26th).

Jackson South Side's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaidynn Askins, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Askins is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last 19 games she's played. Ri'Kiya Mitchell was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Jackson South Side, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-2.

As of now, neither Lexington nor Jackson South Side have any future games scheduled.
